Good morning, my name is Erik Atkinson, Branch Manager-Small Business Specialist for The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod here in Falmouth. And I’m here today with Marina Keuchkarian of The Dance Space Cape Cod.
As a business owner, what do you find is the hardest part of running your business?
The financial side of it. It’s the stressful side of it. Part of what alleviates that stress for me is my bank, to be honest, because I feel like I’m supported by my bank. I feel like I’m a real human. I’m not a number to them on a piece of paper.
I feel like they have acknowledged my growth and they want to see me succeed, and so they want to do anything they can to help me get to those goals that I’m setting for myself.
That’s fantastic. We definitely do.
This is the shop. The shop was not something I intended to do. I had all these wonderful students and they kept asking me where to get their attire.
Of course, I carry all the tutus and the leotards, tights, and you can get shoes from me as well for any of your classes.
And then the whole rehearsal space is downstairs.
All right. Let’s go check it out.
This beautiful room is Studio A. We use this for a lot of our ballet classes, acrobatic classes and mini classes – like all the little ones.
What we did in here … it actually also had the hardwood floors in here. And that I wanted to be able to offer more styles, mainly pointe. Our ballet program has really expanded over the past two years, so I wanted to be able to offer pointe classes and the hardwood is too slippery for that.
So, we were able to invest in Marley flooring, which is what all of the prestigious ballet studios have. Boston Ballet has Marley flooring in all of their studio rooms.
So, not to put you on the spot, but do you want to show us a quick jazz dance? (Dance sequence)
I now have three other teachers besides myself. I also have choreographers from all over the country that come and teach routines to my kids, which is really great because it’s exposing them to everything.
And we’ve been able to offer 26 classes a week.
So, if I was a consumer seeing this video, and I wanted to come visit you, where would they go?
Please come visit us, and we’re at 634 North Falmouth Highway in North Falmouth. My store is on the first floor and the rehearsal space is downstairs. We’re here every Saturday in the store if you’re looking to pop in from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can also email or call. You can find the email and the phone number on the website thedancespacecapecod.com. If you’d like to make a private appointment to shop. And then, of course, you can find all of our classes online, and you can see what we’re offering there.
So, thank you so much for coming.
Thank you for having us.
Of course, anytime let’s do it again.
