When Wackenhammer’s Arcade closed in 2020, an idea started brewing with brothers Dan and Pat Smith.
The arcade was next door to the Smiths’ longtime Hyannis location of Smith Family Popcorn, which was started by Dan and Pat’s parents.
The brothers envisioned a place where the love of tasty treats, popcorn included, and good drinks could come together in a family-friendly environment.
The beer garden idea was born.
In 2023, they officially opened Smith Family Beer Garden. With an easy beach vibe, the outdoor space was transformed with a boardwalk, greenery, seashells, and plenty of tables and chairs. An entertainment space is perfect for live music and trivia nights.
The outdoor space easily blends with the indoor, too, by opening large garage-like doors between the areas. Inside, you can play a game of pool, too.
Smith Family Beer offers a selection of beers on tap, including their own Smith Family Gold – a Blonde by Dorchester Brewing Co. Plus, they have signature cocktails and seasonal favorites.
The food menu has expanded from appetizers, such as pretzels and fried pickles, to artisan flatbreads and salads.
Not only does Smith Family Beer host trivia nights and other fun activities, but also you can rent the space for your event.
