For Rossukhon (Rose) Kelly, food is truly an expression of love.
Rose learned the art of cooking at a young age from her mother and grandmother in Thailand. Today, she cares on their recipes and techniques, making Krua Khun Rose a special place.
At Krua Khun Rose, which translates from Thai to Kitchen of Rose, most of the ingredients are from Thailand. Rose and her crew only use fresh ingredients, and everything is cooked to order. And depending on your preference, the heat is either spicy or Thai spicy (that’s at the top of the spice level).
Popular dishes include, but are not limited to:
- Salmon Choo Chee Curry: Grilled salmon with choo chee curry paste, coconut milk, peppers, bamboo, broccoli, and kaffir lime leaves.
- Shrimp Pad Thai: Authentic Pad Thai rice noodle, stir-fried with egg, bean sprout, scallion, cilantro, fried shallots, and peanuts with shrimp (you can choose your protein).
- Garlic Fried Rice: Jasmine white rice stir-fried with egg, fresh garlic, scallions, and cilantro.
Krua Khun Rose is located at 289 Cotuit Road, Sandwich, and is takeout only. Though you may be there briefly, you’ll be warmly welcomed, and you may even be treated to an impromptu karaoke session. Rose has a wonderful singing voice, and she’s won contests in Thailand!
Since opening in 2021, Rose has not only been focused creating an authentic Thai experience, but also on giving back to the community. She regularly donates meals to first responders, food pantries and more.
In 2022, over the course of five months, Rose donated 500 meals to the community. State Rep. Steven G. Xiarhos presented Rose with a proclamation recognizing her dedication to serving the community during its time of need. In 2023, the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce honored Rose with Business of the Year during its annual meeting.
