We are shining a spotlight on some of our local small business clients. Today, we’re talking to Winsome Irons, Executive Director, of Cape Senior Home Healthcare LLC.
What is your business?
Cape Senior Home Healthcare LLC is a registered home care agency based in Massachusetts that is committed to improving the living conditions of senior citizens and persons living with disabilities. This is achieved by hiring highly skilled and professional CNAs, HHAs, PCAs, or Companions to provide personalized non-medical home care services to individuals in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes.
Specifically, our services include Activities of Daily Living (ADL) like dressing, grooming, bathing, transfers/ambulation, etc., as well as Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) like running errands for clients, planning and preparing meals, grocery shopping, etc. We offer a variety of flexible home care solutions, ranging from a 24-hour on-call staff, home safety evaluation, and routine inspection of homes for quality checks. Our services are available to both males and females of all age groups.
When did your business open?
We officially opened in May 2021.
What’s the most challenging part about running your business?
The most challenging part about running our business is recruiting caregivers, as well as effectively marketing our company to reach our targeted audience.
What’s the biggest risk you’ve taken in your business?
The biggest risk we’ve taken is investing in marketing not guaranteed to reach our targeted audience.
One piece of advice I’d give to someone starting a business …
- Create a thorough business plan.
- Stay up-to-date by routinely researching the industry you’re specializing in.
- Find a niche.
- Seek financial advice.
Do you have community partnerships or ways you give back?
Yes, we do. We make an annual contribution to the Yarmouth Food Pantry, as well as to other local community senior centers.
What is a fun fact about your business?
As Cape Senior’s Executive Director, I was formerly a certified caregiver. Therefore, I understand firsthand the quality of services necessary to keep clients safe and satisfied, and to build trust with their families. This is why at Cape Senior, we care like family and are compassionate in the services we offer.
Why do you bank with us?
I bank with The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod because I have been to many banks but have not experienced the consistent embrace that I do at the Cooperative Bank. I specifically credit this to the tellers of the Yarmouth Branch; they are personable, always ready to assist, and ensure I leave feeling satisfied with the services.
